Thailand Volleyball Association celebrated its 60th anniversary on February 11, 2019
Bangkok, Thailand, February 11, 2019 – The Thailand Volleyball Association celebrated its 60-year anniversary on Monday at the Golden Tulip Sovereign Hotel in Bangkok.

TVA president Somporn Chaibangyang headed the celebration, together with guests of honour AVC secretary general Shanrit Wongprasert and former coach of the women’s national team Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai. The national federation sponsors and members of the men’s and women’s national teams also joined the event.

Somporn presented the accomplishments of the national federation in developing the sport in the country and also revealed the tournaments lined-up for this year, as well as setting the country's ultimate goal of qualifying for their first-ever Olympic Games.

“To celebrate 60 years in good memory, we will all fight for one dream,” he said. “It’s our long-awaited dream (to make it to the Olympic Games). We will all keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best for our women’s team to help make that ultimate dream come true.”

The national federation was founded on February 11, 1959. Since then it has developed into one of the key players in the FIVB and AVC by hosting and participating in numerous international tournaments.
