Dominican Milagros Cabral was elected to the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, September 28, 2017 – Milagros Cabral, former captain of the women's national volleyball team, has been elected to the Dominican Republic’s Sport Hall of Fame.

The announcement was made by Dr. Dionisio Guzman, president of the Dominican Hall of Fame.

She will be inducted as part of the annual ceremony of the hall on October 15 along with nine other athletes and sports personalities.

Cabral, who retired after the London 2012 Olympic Games, was part of the Dominican teams that won three consecutive gold medals at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 2002, 2006 and 2010 and also won the gold medal at the 2003 Pan American Games.

The high-leaping Cabral was also member of the Dominican team that won the titles at the Pan American Cups in 2008 and 2010.

In her professional career, she played in Japan, South Corea, Russia, Spain, Italy and Puerto Rico.

The list of new inductees also includes former Major League Baseball players Luis Castillo - an infielder for the Florida Marlins that won the World Series in 1997 - and the late pitcher Jose Lima.
