Ankara, Turkey, August 21, 2011- Geramy won a hard-fought match against a valiant Brazil team 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-19) in the ranking match for the 5th and 6th positions at the 2011 FIVB Girls’ Youth World Championship at Baskent Hall in Ankara, Turkey on Sunday.

Germany end their matches at the fifth position, which is the best finish for them in the history of the competition. Brazil finish in the 6th position the best for them was the gold medal in three occasions 1997, 2005 and 2009.
After they lost the first set the German team dominated the court completely and they used well the reception mistakes done by the Brazilians to apply their strategy specially the tactical service that weren’t tolerated by their opponent.
Susanne Besa leads Germany scorers with 25 points, while the highest score among Brazil players was that of Gabriela Braga Guimaraes,15 points.
The match started with a lot of pressure by both sides. Draw was kept until the first technical timeout, which came with minimum lead by Brazil 8-7. After the break tight fight continued, almost each point was preceded by a long rally. Despite almost equal success of both teams on the court at the second TTO, Brazil with attacks by Gabriela Braga Guimaraes managed to increase their advantage to 16-13. Then Germany with spikes from Juliane Langgemach and Jennifer Geerties managed to catch up 19-19. This tension of draw continued to the last seconds of the match but with the last mistake in German pass Brazil pulled through this set 25-23.
The second set started with three consequent points by Germany what was immediately answered by several Brazilian attacks. After the FTT with 8-6 German lead draw was established, 9-9 and it continued until the STT whan after the outside service by Brazil Germany went forward 16-14. With Germany's Juliane Langgemach hit and outside spike by Brazil Rosamaria Montibeller Germany reached advantage of 22-17. During the last seconds benefiting from one more outside Brazilian hits and with own successful spike Germany won this set 24-18.
Third set began with previous tension and long fight between attackers and blockers of both teams. But toward the second technical timeout Germany with help of their spiker Susanne Besa gained clear advantage of 16-10. After several following rallies match count became 23-18 with Germany ahead. With last outside hit by Brazil Germany won this set 25-19.
The fourth set started with increased German pressure and continuing attacks by German Susanne Besa, 4-2. In such manner the first TTO came with German lead 8-5. After the break Brazil's Guimares gained own team a point by successful spike, then successful blocks by Stephanie Cristina Correa and Isabella de Oliveira Batista Brazil managed to catch up 11-11. Increasing pressure by Brazil resulted in their lead at the STT 16-15. However later Germany made leap forward and with final spike by Nele Barber they won the set 25-19 and won the 5th place in the tournament.
