Men's Olympic Qualification Tournament - Press Info

Press conference

Portugal beat Kazakhstan 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-19) - duration 1:12
21-May, start time: 20:02, end time: 21:14 - Attendance: 1.600
"There are no easy games in this tournament but that was a comfortable victory for us today. We have started the tournament well and we played good volleyball today.
"But we face Poland tomorrow, who are the favorites, and if they win then they are practically in Athens. We need to beat them if we are to keep alive our chances of qualifying for the Olympic Games. I think the pressure though will be on them because they people will expect them to win."
JUAN DIAZ
Head Coach, Portugal

"I'd like to congratulate Portugal on their victory. I think their coach got the tactics perfect today.
Our team can play better, but we must adapt to the time difference. We only arrived in Porto on Wednesday evening and my players are still not used to the time in Portugal."
ALEXANDR ZAKHAROV
Head Coach, Kazakhstan

"We didn't adapt well to the time difference. There are six hours between Kazakhstan and Porto, so for us it was like playing at two o'clock in the morning. We were very tired."
ROMAN PANENKO
Captain, Kazakhstan

"We entered this match much better than in our European Championship games last week, and this helped us to win today. We know how well Poland played earlier today and so we must play better than we did against Kazakhstan if we are to make it to Athens. Poland is the favorites."
JOSE JOAO
Captain, Portugal
