FIVB - Volleyball World Grand Prix


Host Country:

Bulgaria bordered by Romania to the north, Serbia and Macedonia to the west, Greece and Turkey to the south, and the Black Sea to the east, is no stranger to hosting international volleyball events.

The city of Sofia hosted trhe 2012 FIVB World League Finals at the Armeec Arena, where the national team narrowly missed out on a bronze medla after a 3-1 loss to Cuba in the match for third place. Bulgaria will co-host the 2015 CEV Volleyball European Championship - Men, with Italy with the Armeec Arena once again set to take centre stage when the competition hall hosts the Final Four of the competition.

Host City: Samokov

Samokov is a town in southwest Bulgaria and is a moor tourist centre, together with the nearby resort town of Borovets, providing excellent wintrer sports conditions.

In April, the city held matches of the 2014 CEV U19 Volleyball European Championship - Women at the Arena Samokov. The city has also hosted qualification matches for the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship Italy 2014 as well as the 2013 FIVB Volleyball Women's Junior World Championship.

Venue: Arena Samokov

The Arena Samokov sports complex is located in central Samokov, 70 km away from Sofia, 130 away from Plovdiv and 10 km away from the Borovetz ski resort. The complex consists of a milti-purpose sports and enternatinment hall and the Arena hotel specialises in organising training camps for sports teams, year-round camps for athletes of all ages and nationalities as well as sports and congress events.
