The World Grand Prix Finals will take centre stage in Sapporo. The matches will be held at the Hokkaido Prefectural Sport Center – also called “Kitayell” by the locals – an indoor sporting arena located in Toyohira-ku.

Sapporo is the fourth most populated city in Japan and the largest on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido.

The city hosted the Winter Olympic Games in 1972, the first ever held in Asia, and is a centre for winter sports in Japan. It is home to the world-famousYuki Matsuri, or Sapporo Snow Festival which it hosts every February.

Sapporo is a familiar stop for international volleyball events. It also has a firm tradition organising major events in other sports, such as soccer, baseball and basketball.
