Dominican Republic rallied past Poland, 25-13, 28-26, 18-25, 25-20, for its first win.

Dominican Republic showed its brilliant form to win the first set, banking on Andino Rodriguez and Annerys Valdez to take a 17-11 lead en route to victory.

Poland fought back in the second set where Malgorzata Niemczyk-Wolska, Aleksandra Przybysz and Maria Liktoras delivered well but Dominican Republic, bannered by Milagros Cabral, played steadier to prevail.

Poland held a 9-3 run behind Liktoras, Niemczyk-Wolska and Przybysz to post a 15-9 advantage. Dominican Republic ralled back to cut the lead, 18-21, but Poland won the four straight points to win the third set.

Both teams played well in the fourth set, with Poland taking a 14-13 lead before Agata Karczmarzewska and Katarzyna Skowronska joined hands in a rally as Dominican Republic wrapped the match in 1 hour, 35 minutes.

Vargas and Cabral scored 16 points each for Dominican Republic while Niemczyk-Wolska led Poland with 16 points, 15 on attacks.
