Team profile

Sada Cruizeiro are a pillar of Brazilian volleyball and the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship title-holders. They won the 2013 competition in front of home support in Betim, Brazil.

Sada Cruzeiro are in fantastic form going into the Men’s Club World Championship in Belo Horizonte. They emphasized their dominance in South America by claiming Brazil’s Superliga crown in April. In addition, Sada have won the South American Championship this year – adding to the title won in 2012 - the Minheiro Championship and the Copa Brasil.
The team coached by Marcelo Mendez were finalists in the World Championship in 2012 before lifting the trophy in 2013. Understandably, they have great expectations for this year’s edition.

One player who has helped drive Sada Cruizeiro to their success this year is Wallace Souza, who scored a team-high 10 points in the Superliga’s final against SESI-SP. In fact, he was the top overall scorer in the Superliga, racking up 374 points throughout the competition.

Sada Cruzeiro’s unity will be tested at the Club World Championship, but there won’t be many betting against them adding more silverware to their collection of trophies.
