Setter Noemi Signorelli in action against Peru

Italy went ahead 8-6 in the first set with the spikes of Mautino and extended the lead to 16-12 at the second pause with the contribution of serves and kills from Claudia Cagninelli. The Italians kept their consistency and took the set 25-17 with some good blocking by Gentili.

In the second set, the Italians took 8-4 and 16-10 leads with the potent attacks by Orsi Toth and Gagnielli. Then Mautino recharged batteries and produced four kills and Italy closed the set 25-12 with an ace by Signorile.

Teams were tied at 8-all when the duo of Cagninelli and Mautino produced four points to give Italy a 12-10 lead. The Italians led 16-12 but Peru tied up at 17-all with good production from Ortiz and Rueda, and then went ahead 19-17 with ace and block by Meneses and Baella. The Italians came back to even the score at 19 and finally won 25-23 with a couple of spikes by Zambelli combined with unforced errors by Peru.
