Russia won the match for ninth place
 

The Russian attack improved after the first set and led the victory

MEXICALI, Mexico.- Russia recovered from losing the first set and won the match for the ninth position with a victory over Germany in four sets by scores of 23-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-17.

Lefty Russian Ruslan Moskvin enjoyed a splendid match with 28 points, Alexey Yashchishin and Dmtry Shcherbinin added 15 and 12 points respectively and Sergey Burtsev and Denis Medvedev each contributed 9 tallies. Jonas Umlauft led Germany with 25 and Lukas Bauer had 10 points.

Moskvin, Yashchishin and Shcherbinin were lethal weapons used by the Russian side to prevail in the battle against their European opponents. Moskvin (26-of-41) and Yashchishin (12-of-19) were positive in the 63 percent of their killing attempts and Shcherbinin was even better with 9 out of 11 for an 82 percentage of effectiveness.

The Russians recovered by establishing a strong and well executed blocking touching a lot of the Germans’ attempts. Medvedev was their best man in this category finishing with four blocks.

In the third set, Germany was in front 17-15 but could not control its game after that and Russia made a solid comeback led by their star player Moskvin. They enjoyed of a smooth path in route to taking the fourth set and the victory.
