Poland was stronger than Belgium and won the fifth place
 

Good performance for Poland against Belgium

In the first set both squads played in the same strong rhythm but Poland reached the 8-7 advantage and increased it to 16-9 through captain Maciej  Krzywiecki and Jan Krol. Belgium could not stop the Polish rhythm despite Simon Van De Voorde spikes, so Poland win the first set easily 25-13.

In the second set there was a positive reaction of Belgium, although they were down 6-8 at the first technical time out. Bram Van Dem Dries was an important weapon in gaining more points until they managed to draw 15-15, 16-16 and 17-17. But Poland rebuilt their strategy and lead again 20-17. Then they went straight to the set point 25-23 through Mateusz Jasinski and Lukasz Polanski spikes.

The third set Belgium started leading 8-4 and 16-9 thanks to the efforts of setter Yves Kruyner and Pieter Verhees with Kevin Klinkenberg in attack and block. Belgium won this set 25-17.

In the fourth set Poland recovered their strength and lead 8-3 and 16-11. Poland finally win 25-15 and claim the fifth place of the World Championship. The best scorer was Bram Van Dem Dries with 19 points and the match lasted 88 minutes.
