  Semen Poltavsky has a very rich club career, stepping out for “Gabeca Montichiari” (Italy), “Dynamo” (Moscow) and “Yaroslavich” (Yaroslavl). Semen debuted for Russia on May 23, 2003 in the World League game against Venezuela.

Since then Poltavsky has won bronze in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, silver medal in the CEV European Championships in 2005 and 2007, won the CEV European League in 2005. Poltavsky also has a rich collection of individual awards. He was recognized as the MVP and the best server of the 2007 CEV European Championship, the best scorer and best server of the 2007 FIVB World League. Prior to this, Poltavsky was a two-time World Junior champion and two-time European Junior champion with the Russian junior team.
