Brazil beat Germany by 3-0 in front of 8.753 spectators
Brazil started his participation against Germany with victory in the World League this Saturday. With almost 8.753 spectators, the Brazilian National team beat Germany by 3-0 in the first match of Pool B, in the Ibirapuera Hall (Sao Paulo).
If Germany did not count on one of the best players in the team, the middle-blocker Hübner who was injured and did not travel to Sao Paulo, Brazil appeared with some changes in the group that won the World title last year in Argentina: Ricardinho (setter), Anderson (universal) and Giovane (wing-spiker) started the match and took the place of Maurício (setter), André Nascimento (universal) and Nalbert (wing-spiker).
Although the Germain National Team opened two points in the beggining of the first set (6-4), Brazil knew how to recover the difference. With a very efficient service, Brazilian players caused a lot of problems to the opponent's receiving. While the Germains missed a lot of attacks, Brazil had no problem to open a large advantage: 25-15.
The second set was much more equilibrated. Germany improved the service a lot and also the blocking. When the score was 23-19 to the Germains, the Brazilian wing-spiker Giba went to the service and tied in 23-23. After an attack error of Andrae Björn (Germain attacker), Brazil put two sets ahead.
The Germain errors started to appear once again in the third set. Meanwhile Brazil showed efficiency in the attack scoring 42 points in this fundament against 29 for the Dutch team. The Brazilian wing-spiker Giovane was the best scorer in the court with 15 points that helped Brazil to win the first match in the World League.
