Brazil hand Portugal Volleyball lesson
Both teams played excellent Volleyball to entertain a great of 4,000 in the Matosinhos Hall but Brazil stepped up a gear in class just when it mattered most to claim the win and move to the top of Pool B, ahead of Italy, courtesy of a better Set Ratio.

In the first set, Portugal played very good Volleyball against the World Champions. Despite Brazil registering an important five-point advantage Portugal managed to recover and with the service of Roberto Reis claw their way back into the match. Nevertheless, Brazil was stronger when it mattered, at the death, and sealed the the set 25-21.

The second set was even more balanced than the first one. Portugal made a great start taking a 6-4 lead, but then it was Brazil's turn to come from behind. Neither team was seperated by more than a point in the middle stages before Brazil's experience proved decisive again as they went on to take the set 27-25.

In the last set Brazil proved why they are one of the best teams in the world with superb attacking raids, excellent defence and an abundace of talent envied by all. Despite Portugal's best efforts Brazil calmly wrapped up the third set and the game 25-22.

The next game for these two teams is on Sunday at 16:00 GMT.
