France beat Greece 3-0 (26-24, 30-28, 25-23) - duration 1:28
06-Jun, start time: 21:07, end time: 22:35 - Attendance: 4,260
France takes Pool D lead with spectacular win
Greece came into the game in good form as Pool D leaders, having returned from Japan with a win and a loss but they were severly humbled on their home court by an awesome French side who were led by two youngsters Junot Mistoco and Sebastien Frangolacci.
Infront of their home crowd Greece started strongly but failed to seal the decisive points at crucial times, blowing set-points in both the first and second sets.
France were desperate to regain some lost ground from last weekend and it was evident in their play. The World Championship bronze medalists, without captain Dominique Daquin, who missed the whole game, showed determination and courage, particularly in the opening two sets to climb into pole position of the standings in Group D of the Intercontinental Rounds.
Too many unforced errors cost Greece dearly, as the French never lost their nerve, even when they trailed on the scoreboard. With Mistoco in excellent form (15 points), France never faltered and always managed to come from behind and win the crucial points that mattered. Todor Baev scored 15 points to emerge as Greece's top scorer but that was not enough for the Greeks, who failed to capitalise on the support of the well over 4,000-strong crowd.
