Cuba staged an impressive comeback victory over Poland in a five-set thriller Friday on the opening day of the FIVB World Grand Prix women's volleyball tournament.
Cuba coach Felipe Calderon said his team deserved to win the match.
"Poland are a good team, but my players worked very hard. A hard-working team always deserve victory," he said.
When asked why his team looked so different after the first two sets, Calderon said: "I told them the importance of the match, and asked them to put more focus in court."
Poland coach Ryszard Niemczyk did not hide his disappointment.
"After the first two sets, I really hoped that we could win the match. But, unfortunately, the Cubans played much better in the third and fourth sets," said Niemczyk.
