FIVB Women's World Championship Japan 2006

Press Conference

Dominican Republic v Mexico press conference

Beato Miguel, Dominican Republic head coach

"I think our girls played well. We had a painful loss yesterday (to Azerbaijan) and it was good to finally win a match.

"The key to our win was our serve and our attacks. We were strong in that area and Mexico was not able to counter attack.

"We will keep working hard for our last match and we want to do a good job tomorrow."

Cosiri Rodriguez, Dominican Republic captain

"We have played an important match today. Mexico is in our area (Central America) so we play them many times.

"We lost yesterday but we have put that match behind us and we were able to win today.

"We hope we can play well tomorrow also (against Russia)."

Orlando Samuels, Mexico head coach

"As I've said before, Mexico did not come into this tournament with the best of preparation physically, especially for the level required in this competition and for this very strong pool.

"I expected this result because the Dominican Republic is a strong team and we now have to look to the future."

Bibiana Candelas, Mexico captain

"I think we had a good start but then we fell away and haven't been able to keep playing well throughout the whole match.

"Today we learned a lot and we must now prepare together for our next match."
