Matlak proud after Poles sign off in style

Malgorzata Glinka-Mogentale (left) was all smiles with her Poland team-mates after victory over China

Poland coach Jerzy Matlak:
"I'm very happy that we have won against China, because it is very difficult to beat them. The results are usually the other way around when teams play against them. I'm very proud of my players. They showed they didn't give up at the end of the tournament. We were able to get a good result and gain points to move up in the FIVB rankings. I'm very happy for the players."

Poland player Malgorzata Glinka-Mogentale:
"We played a very good match. We showed at the end of the tournament we were still able to play a good match. We were fully concentrated and were ready mentally and physically to play. The group for places 9-12 is very difficult. We showed we could do it, so we are going home with our morale high and with good plans for the future."

China coach Yu Juemin:
"Both teams were really hoping to win ninth place. We didn't serve or receive very well today. Poland's team had a very balanced attack, with three players who attacked very well. This made it difficult for our team to defend against them, and it threw us into confusion. We also had chances and couldn't always take advantage of them. We knew that Poland were a really good team. We knew we would have to do well on key points. We couldn't serve, spike, or block as well in this game as in the past. I have experienced many big tournaments and in this tournament, I am very disappointed with our results, especially this last game. From here, we have to think more about the future. We have some players in good condition, but also many injuries to key players. The young players can learn many things from the veterans. If we can do these things, we will do better in the future."

China player Zhou Suhong:
"This is the last game of the tournament, so both teams really wanted to win. We really wanted to win ninth place for our pride but we didn't hit enough good balls to win. In the first set we had leads but we couldn't win the set. In the third set we had a lot of chances and couldn't take advantage of them. We feel that we didn't do as well as we had hoped."
