Guidetti: We played like it was a final

Germany coach Giovanni Guidetti was delighted with his side's effort in beating Serbia in four sets

Serbia coach Zoran Terzic:
"Being in the top eight teams in world is OK for us but we can definitely not be satisfied - not with eighth, but with how we played. We played well until Japan (Serbia lost to the hosts in their final first-round game). We played well against them, but lost that game and after that we played worse and worse. I can understand if this happens against Russia or Brazil, but for us it’s not bad to play for 5-8 place. Definitely we can play better, and we will do better in the next European Championship."

Serbia player Maja Ognjenovic:
"After everything we showed on court, unfortunately we lost. We stopped playing, we stopped fighting. Next time we will improve some things and it will be better. It's difficult to say anything about the World Championship – we started well in our group and we had all wins but then had the Japan match, which we lost 3-1, and the Turkey match we where we played very badly."

Germany coach Giovanni Guidetti:
"Of course I'm glad how we finished today. I think my team showed great spirit, a great way to play Volleyball. I think we really enjoyed playing, and people who watched enjoyed it too. It's not such an important match but my players played like it was a final. The second point I want to make is that I'm very satisfied – we played 11 matches and only lost four. We lost to Italy, USA, Brazil, and Turkey – four losses in 11 matches is a great result for a young team like ours. It is four positions better than the last World Championship where we finished 11th. I need to thank my players and staff for how we played. Maybe we could have won yesterday (against Turkey), but if I look at the general picture I think we did a very, very good job."

Germany captain Christiane Furst:
"We are very glad we won this last match. It was very difficult at the beginning and we had problems against the great serving of Serbia. But then we were able to play our game and show our team spirit. We're happy to get seventh place, it’s a great thing for this team."
