Serbia hosts International Referee Candidates Course

The candidates for the International Referee Candidates Course in Serbia
Lausanne, Switzerland, August 4, 2014 – An FIVB International Referee Candidates Course got under way in the Serbian city of Subotica on August 1. The course, which will run until August 10, is being organized by the Volleyball Federation of Serbia. 

Twenty-one candidates will be evaluated during matches at the 2014 Junior Women’s Balkan Championship. 

FIVB Refereeing Commission Secretary Sergey Titov of Russia is Course Director, while Scotland’s Alexander James Steel, the President of the FIVB Rules of the Game Commission, is acting as Course Instructor. Dejan Jovanovic, President of the Association of Volleyball Referees of Serbia, is also helping with the organization of the course.

On behalf of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, the course participants were welcomed by Darko Djurickovic, Coordinator of All Serbian National Volleyball Teams. 

The IRCC participants come from 12 countries: Slavisa Kuzmanovic and Anel Delic of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Siarhei Budzeika and Aliaksandr Sudzeu from Belarus; Olya Budurova and Vanya Parvanova of Bulgaria; Ana Stipanicev and Toni Ivkovic from Croatia; Chantal Chaiser and Ehsanollah Rejaeyan from France; Ines Rentzsch and Mathias Ewald from Germany; Mauro Carlo Goitre and Armando Simbari from Italy; Wouter De Baar from the Netherlands; Pedro Miguel Lopes Pinto from Portugal; Cedric Grellier of Switzerland; Devonie Nicole McLarty and William Thornburgh of the United States; and Aleksandar Balandzic and Djordje Stevanovic from Serbia. 

The first IRCC of 2014 was held in Kenya from March 3 to 10, while the second took place in Thailand from May 14 to 21. The fourth course is scheduled for August 25 to 31 in Japan. The fifth will be held from November 8 to 16 in Nigeria. 

The organizer of the IRCC for Beach Volleyball is Liechtenstein (August 3-10).
