FIVB Disciplinary Panel issues decision on Argentina national team players

Lausanne, Switzerland, September 10, 2019 – The FIVB Disciplinary Panel has ruled that Mr. Facundo Conte, Mr. Federico Pereyra and Mr. Pablo Crer, members of the Argentina national volleyball team, breached the FIVB’s Disciplinary Regulations following gestures made at the Men’s Volleyball Qualification Tournament in Ningbo, China, on August 11, 2019.

Mr. Pereyra and Mr. Crer have been suspended for three matches, while Mr. Conte will serve a reduced, two-match suspension after he offered an immediate apology on his social media account following the incident. All three players will serve their respective match suspensions during the 2019 Men's South American Volleyball Championship which begins on September 11.

In addition, the Argentine Volleyball Federation has been fined CHF 15,000.

The athletes or national federation can appeal the decision via the FIVB Appeals Panel, and the FIVB Disciplinary Panel reserves the right to re-open the proceedings if any of the players fail to serve their sanctions.
