Germany team captain and setter Denise Hanke celebrates a point against Brazil

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 5, 2019 - After defeating Brazil in five sets on Tuesday in Lincoln, Germany take on pool hosts and 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League winners USA on Wednesday. Listen to captain Denise Hanke talk about her team's journey in this year's competition.

Germany began this year's competition with defeats to Thailand, Poland and Italy in week 1. Their first victory in the tournament came in week 2 against Russia before falling to pool hosts Turkey and Japan. After playing USA tonight, Felix Koslowski's players take on Korea on Thursday.

Last night's victory was also the second for Germany against Brazil in the Volleyball Nations League after they were also claimed a win against the South American giants in their first match of the 2018 VNL in Barueri.

The 29-year-old Hanke has played for clubs in Germany, Istanbul and Poland. The setter has won the German Volleyball League six times with her current club SSC Palmberg Schwerin.
