VakifBank Istanbul coach Giovanni Guidetti steered his team to a 3-0 win over Zhejiang Women's Volleyball Club

Shaoxing, China, December 4, 2018 – VakifBank Istanbul recorded a 3-0 win against Zhejiang Women’s Volleyball Club to start their title defence on a positive note in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship.

VakifBank Istanbul coach Giovanni Guidetti: “It was a very good match for my team. Zhejiang played very well in the first set, but in the end our block and defence made a big difference. My players were really focused and also very excited to play in front of an incredible crowd. We hope we can experience more of this atmosphere in the next days.”

VakifBank Istanbul captain Ayse Melis Gurkaynak
: “It was very important for us to start the tournament with a win. The atmosphere on the court was very good and we really enjoyed playing this match. We want to thank the Chinese people who also cheered for our team.”

VakifBank Istanbul player Zhu Ting
: “It’s always nice to play in your own country and I am happy to play in front of the home fans. Our team had a good performance today. I hope we can continue playing well in the next matches.”

Zhejiang Women’s Volleyball Club coach Wang Hebin: “We are honoured to play a strong team like VakifBank. I think my team played very well in the first set, but we lost a lot of points from our opponents’ blocks in the second and third sets.”

Zhejiang Women’s Volleyball Club captain Wang Na: “We had a good performance in the first set, but VakifBank is such a strong opponent that is why we lost the next two sets. We are still happy that we are able to show a good performance against a good team.”
