Video: Japan win gold at Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games

Japan won the first ever women's Olympic volleyball gold at the Tokyo 1964 Summer Games
Lausanne, Switzerland, March 9, 2017 – Watch Japan’s historic victory at the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games, when volleyball was first added to the Olympic programme.

All eyes were on the winning team, as master tactician Hirofumi Daimatsu, who was known for his strict training regimen, led Japan to victory. The Soviet Union won silver and Poland took bronze.

In the men's competition, hosts Japan won bronze, finishing behing the Soviet Union (gold) and Czechoslovakia (silver).
