Iran Vice President visits Kish Island Open

Iran Vice President for International Affairs Akbar Torken took the time to sign some Mikasa balls
Kish Island, Iran, February 11, 2016 – Iran Vice President for International Affairs Akbar Torken paid a visit to the venue of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Kish Island Open 2016 on Thursday as the tournament finalises preparations before it begins on Monday.

Mr Torken was joined by a group of Iranian officials alongside local organising committee and Iran Volleyball Federation representative Kasra Ghafoori as well as FIVB Technical Supervisor Ilya Volodarskiy in inspecting the venue to ensure it was ready to welcome some of the world’s top beach volleyball stars.

There was also an opportunity to see some of Iran’s home-grown talent who are also fine-tuning their skills ahead of the restart of the 2015/2016 season.

It is the first time the FIVB World Tour has visited Iran, with the single-gender tournament acting as the fourth stage on this season’s circuit following Open events in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; Antalya, Turkey and Doha, Qatar at the end of 2015.
