#ThrowbackThursday: The need for speed!

Lausanne, Switzerland, February 11, 2016 – Speed is key in volleyball, both indoor and on the beach, and the quicker the serve, the harder the reception.

Last year’s FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships The Netherlands showcased some of the fastest servers in the sport, with the top men’s serve reaching almost 100 km/h. To put that in perspective, it would take a Honda Civic Type R 5.7 seconds to reach the same speed.

Here are the top three men’s and women’s servers from the World Championships. See if you can spot the ball!
