Leap-year volleyball campaign launched

Lausanne, Switzerland, January 29, 2016 – For many people, volleyball is a passion to live for 365 days a year, but in 2016 everyone will have an extra day as 2016 is a leap year and February will have 29 days. This has inspired the European Confederation to launch “One Day More for Volleyball.”

The project, enthusiastically joined by the Italian Federation, will see demonstration games played on February 29 with each game consisting of one set of 29 points.

The goal is to organize as many games as possible all over Europe in an atmosphere of fun, friendship and fair play. The event will also serve to promote volleyball through photos and videos that will be used on social channels. In this way, European volleyball will come together on February 29 to form one big “team.”

Anyone can take part in the event – club players and others from all levels and ages, without any distinction in terms of physical skills. The event is also open to students and mixed teams.

Players in Italy should contact the local FIPAV committee for more information.
