Iran appoint Barbosa as beach volleyball coach
Tehran, Iran, January 27, 2016 – Iran’s volleyball federation have appointed Joao Luciano Simao Barbosa as the coach of their beach volleyball team.
The Brazilian will now only have a few weeks to prepare before the Kish Island Open takes place from February 15-19, the first time that Iran has hosted an FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour event. It is the first World Tour tournament of the 2016 part of the 2015-16 World Tour.
“We have such an important tournament ahead of us and I hope to have a good start this month and then in the future with Iran,” Barbosa said. “I have felt positive about the role since I arrived in Iran and I feel I am going to have a good start. All the players, coaches, administrators and the federation should be working together to make progress. If we keep to well-organised plans, we will certainly make it.”
“We want to be one of the best beach volleyball teams and to achieve that we need to plan a route to becoming so,” Dr. Davarzani, president of the Iran Volleyball Federation said. “We have thousands of miles of coast from north to south and good weather for hosting beach tournaments all year and so wanted to make the most of those conditions.”
