Italy to celebrate legends in Modena

Italy will celebrate their glorious past at the Leggenda Azzurra event in Modena
Lausanne, Switzerland, January 11, 2016 - Modena will host a special event celebrating the glorious history of the Italian men's national team. Over one hundred players will participate in the event commemorating the "Azzurri legends" in pictures, videos and stories.

Among them, Gianni Lanfranco, Franco Bertoli, Andrea Zorzi, Andrea Lucchetta, Fabio Vullo, Andrea Sartoretti, Marco Meoni, Samuele Papi, the famous players from the “Generazione di Fenomi”, better known as the Team of the Century. A truly special night of sport, emotion and history is expected.

Lorenzo Dallari - former volleyball player from Modena, Sky Sport Vice-Director for 15 years, sports commentator and author of the book “La leggenda Azzurra”, which has inspired this special night, is the host of the event that will celebrate men’s volleyball in Italy from its beginnings and right up to the 2015 European Championship.

The participants will join Dallari to look back at the significant milestones in the history of the “Azzurri”, describing the most important moments like the Men’s World Championship in 1978, widely known as the “Gabbiano d’argento” (director Giulio Berruti dedicated a documentary to the event), and the many medals won by Italian teams over the years.
