Olsztyn to host Polish Grand Slam in June

Olsztyn will host an FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Grand Slam event from June 14-19
Lausanne, Switzerland, January 7, 2016 - The FIVB is pleased to announce that Olsztyn will host the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Grand Slam event to be held in Poland from June 14 to 19.

The Olsztyn event will come a week after the Grand Slam event in Hamburg, Germany from June 7 to 12 and is the fourth of five Grand Slam events on the 2015/2016 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour calendar.

Olsztyn also hosted a Grand Slam event in 2015 when world champions Alison Cerutti and Bruno Schmidt won their fifth consecutive FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour gold by defeating Jacob Gibb and Casey Patterson in the men's final. The women's event went to Larissa Franca and Talita Antunes, who won a fifth gold medal on the 2015 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour when they defeated Marleen van Iersel and Madelein Meppelink in the gold medal match.

The 2015/2016 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour calendar kicked off with the double-gender Puerto Vallarta Open in Mexico from October 6 to 11, 2015 and will end with the 2015/2016 Swatch FIVB World Tour Finals next October. The World Tour Finals serve as the season climax and will feature the top teams per gender based on a cumulative ranking of points from Grand Slams, Majors and Opens.

The five Grand Slams on the 2015/2016 calendar will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (March 8-13), Moscow, Russia (May 24-29), Hamburg, Germany (June 7-12), Olsztyn, Poland (June 14-19), and Long Beach, USA (August 23-28).
