Grassroots volleyball promoted in Niger

The Niger Volleyball Federation is promoting grassroots volleyball
Niamey, Niger, October 21, 2015 - The Niger Volleyball Federation (FENIVOLLEY) organised a ceremony to launch activities at its training centres this season, with centres in Niamey and Dosso participating in activities on Saturday.

Since 2001, the federation has put in place a number of programmes to promote volleyball in schools across the country, which have also benefitted from the FIVB's development funds.

As many as 80 primary schools were provided with teaching equipment and follow up has been provided by designated teachers, supported by eight local committees.

The Niger Volleyball Federation's development efforts have set the scene for further assistance from the FIVB and the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB). FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F°'s African Dream Project will help to set up four training centres across the country, which will help to develop young athletes between the ages of eight and fourteen.
