Guam youngsters improve skills

Guam players after their course
Hagatna, Guam, July 29, 2015 – Guam youngsters were given the chance to improve their skills after the Pacific island nation hosted a VCP Young Players course for 13-19 year-olds from July 22-26.

FIVB instructor Dan Girleanu from Romania led the course that featured long and intense practices focused on developing a solid foundation of knowledge, skills and values while promoting enjoyment to the athletes.

The aim of the course was to use the skills and character traits to ensure that young players in Guam have an understanding of the sport’s fundamental skills that they will take through and build on as they progress from age-group volleyball to senior volleyball.

In the future the hope is that volleyball camps will continue to be organised across the country and develop further links with the USA where players can qualify for high school and college scholarships.
