Nummerdor & Varenhorst oust second Russian pair from FIVB World Championships

The Hague, The Netherlands, July 2, 2015 - Top-seeded Reinder Nummerdor and Christiaan Varenhorst of The Netherlands did not disappoint family, friends and fans here Thursday afternoon by posting a 2-1 (21-17, 22-24, 15-12) win in 58 minutes over 10th-seeded Viacheslav Krasilnikov and Konstantin Semenov of Russia. The win was the second-straight victory over a Russian pair as Nummerdor and Varenhorst opened elimination round play Wednesday evening by ousting 31st-seeded Oleg Stoyanovskiy/Artem Yarzutkin. Thursday win was the second by the Dutch over Krasilnikov and Konstantin Semenov as the Russians dropped a match last August in Poland to Nummerdor and Varenhorst. With the 2015 world championships being Nummerdor and Varenhorst’s eighth FIVB World Tour event, the Dutch will be appearing in their seventh “Elite 8” match.
