Holtwick & Semmler eliminate Dutch girls

Fourth seeded Katrin Holtwick and Ilka Semmler knocked out one of two remaining Dutch women's teams in the first elimination round in Rotterdam. The Germans defeated Sophie van Gestel and Jantine van der Vlist 2-0 (21-17, 23-21).

The Dutch were no match in the first set, but Van der Vlist took charge in the middle of the second, scoring four points in a row to take the lead at 13-12. The Dutch even had four set points, but could not finish it. Germany changed tactics and served on Van Gestel, who hit wide on the first German match point.
