St. Lucia top ECVA Women’s BVB Olympic qualifier

 
St Lucia celebrate their first place at the Eastern Caribbean Olympic beach volleyball qualifier, which is part of the NORCECA Continental Cup
 
Castaways, Antigua, May 5, 2015 - St. Lucia topped the Eastern Caribbean Women’s lineup of six countries qualified for the second round of the NORCECA Continental Cup.

The top seeds at the eleven-country competition in Antigua, St. Lucia confirmed their status as pre-tournament favourites. They will be joined by Antigua and Barbuda, French St. Martin, St. Kitts and Nevis, Dominica and Grenada in the next phase against the top six Caribbean countries.

St. Lucia played Antigua and Barbuda in the final series, reaching a golden set to determine the top place.

St Lucia-A of Dala Noel and Kerin Neptune defeated Antigua-B of Sharon Payne and Naheeman Wilson 2-0 (21-18, 21-9), but Mali Peters and Rosemarie Simon of Antigua-A evened the series winning 2-0 (21-16, 21-12) over Lisa Casimie/ Jamilla Lansiquot of St Lucia-B. The golden set between the two “A” teams finished with a 15-10 score.

“I feel so happy and satisfied,” said Neptune “I wouldn’t have done it without the help of my partner and friend. We expected to win and we want to thank the president of our federation, Brian Louisy and our coach “Café” Joao Carlos Moraes de Campos”.

1. St. Lucia 2. Antigua and Barbuda 3. French St. Martin 4. St. Kitts and Nevis 5. Dominica 6. Grenada 7. Bermuda 8. St. Vincent 9. British Virgin Islands 10.  Dutch St. Maarten 11. Anguilla.
