UPCN take fifth straight Argentina A1 crown

San Juan, Argentina, Apr 24, 2015 – In an incredible final match, UPCN San Juan Voley became the only team to have won the Argentine A1 Seniors’ Men League five consecutive times. They won the best-of-five series despite Personal Bolivar levelling to 2-2 after losing the first two matches.

In an crowded Aldo Cantoni stadium with about 9,000 spectators – some came all the way from Buenos Aires province to support their Bolivar team – both teams gave their utmost showing they deserved to be the top two teams in this season’s  very demanding and very competitive league.

Fabian Armoa’s team, who have dominated since the former Argentine Seniors’ Men Team coach took over UPCN, including winning the South American Clubs Championship, ended Personal Bolivar’s dream after a 3-1 (25-22, 17-25, 25-17, 25-16) result in the decider.

UPCN opposite player Nikolav Uchikov was the MVP, topping the scores with 17 points and finishing as top scorer of the final series and the whole league.

Showing the parity of the whole series – with Bolivar also coached by another great former Argentine Seniors’ Men Team coach, Javier Weber – each team won two home matches prior to the decider.

In  San Juan, UPCN won 3-2 (19-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-18, 15-13) and 3-1 (15-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-22), while in Bolivar Personal triumphed 3-1 (25-21, 28-26, 19-25, 25-19) and 3-2 (18-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19, 15-12).

Many of the players of both teams will now move to the Argentine Senior Men’s Team for a very demanding international season that starts with the FIVB World League that will take place from end of May.
