E-learning referees course updated

The new e-learning course for referees will help to harmonise knowledge levels and provide a centralised source of information and training
Lausanne, Switzerland, April, 2015 - The recently launched online course for FIVB referees has been updated with the latest information available, in collaboration with the FIVB Referee and Rules of the Game Commissions.

The e-learning platform was launched by FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° at the end of March 2015 and the aim is to provide an e-learning platform that will serve as an online hub for referees. It is also hoped that it will increase collaboration between referees around the world and create new links between different members of the volleyball family.

The update means that the course will be extended to offer a selection of training modules along with information on the Rules of the Game, the Casebook and the Refereeing Guidelines and Instructions. It provides a thorough introduction to the material and also offers a wide range of questionnaires and quizzes to test the knowledge of candidates.

Despite the online course serving as a supporting tool, referees, line judges, scorers and referee delegates will still have to participate in workshops and courses in person, though the system will play an important role in the lead up to the start of the volleyball and beach volleyball seasons.

By harmonising knowledge levels and providing a centralised source of information and training, the aim is for the online courses to help to shape how volleyball and beach volleyball are organised across the five continental confederations.
