VCP Beach Volleyball Grassroots Course draws interest in Maldives

Male, Maldives, April 29, 2015 – The VCP Beach Volleyball Grassroots Course took place in the Maldives from April 19 to 23 under the supervision of FIVB Instructor Johann Huber from Austria.

The Beach Volleyball Grassroots Course was successful because of the good number of participants who completed the course, most of which come from the island. One of the long-term goals of the course is to grow the game of beach volleyball across the country through these participants.

The participants acquired more knowledge and experience on the sport discipline of beach volleyball such as coaching techniques and plays. Since there are club coaches who took part in the course, this could make the national-level players be aware of the technical and tactical aspects.

The course underlined the growth of interest of the people on the game, which could have short and long-term benefits for the country. The huge turnout of participants in the course is because of the knowledge they acquire from the good flow on the theoretical and practical sessions.

The strong support of the Volleyball Association of Maldives for developing the sport is exhibited in their organisation of high-level matches. Their commitment to the sport is extraordinarily exemplified with the growing number of beach volleyball centres in the country. The next promising project for the country is to develop a nationwide beach volleyball circuit.
