Argentina launch Boys’ U19 World Championship

 
Local Organising Committee of the FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship officially launched the event on Tuesday, April 14.
 
Chaco, Argentina, April 16, 2015 – The organising committee led by governor Jorge Capitanich with Carlos Mauricio Espinola, Secretary of National Sports, and Raul Bittel, president of the Sports Institute of Chaco, at the Chaco Governor’s Hall, officially launched the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship in a press conference at the Chaco Governor’s Hall on Tuesday.

Also present in the event are Roberto Escobar, technical supervisor of the International Volleyball Federation; national federation president, Juan Antonio Gutierrez, and vice president of the sports institute Ivan Chaco.

Miguel Angel Ortigoza and Eduardo Tassano, presidents of the local volleyball federations represented the cities of Chaco and Corrientes, respectively.

Argentina will experience another exceptional international volleyball event that will be held from August 14 to 23 in Chaco and Corrientes that will celebrate the development of the age-group category in the Argentine region.

“The organisation of the U19 World Championship in Chaco and Corrientes is a great decision,” secretary Espinola said. “This will allow both provinces to grow not only in volleyball, but it will make the cities known all over the world for their beautiful scenery, culture and social background.”

The event is expected to draw 400 athletes from 20 countries. Argentina, Brazil, Poland, Italy, Turkey, Germany, Russia, Bulgaria, Iran, Japan, China, Chinese Taipei, USA, Cuba, Mexico have already qualified for the tournament. Teams from Africa, South America and Central America are still completing the qualifiers.

Once all teams are confirmed, four pools with five teams each will drawn and play the Round Robin in the preliminary round.

The local organising committee of Chaco expressed its readiness to host the prestigious event.

“We feel very proud that they have chosen Chaco to host the U19 World Championship,” Bittel said. “We know that the participants will bring back great memories and love for the place. Argentina is very much capable of organising high-profile events such as this.”

“Argentina is one of the countries in the world that has organised a lot of international competition,” FIVB supervisor Escobar said. “This is result of the continued interest of the renewed generation, which looks favourable to the FIVB.”
