Bjelo Polje to host Montenegrin Cup men's finals

The coaches of the four teams participating in the Montenegrin Cup semifinals in Bjelo Polje
Bjelo Polje, Montenegro, March 12, 2015 - Bijelo Polje will host the final tournament of the men's Cup of Montenegro on Friday and Saturday. The semifinals on Friday begin at 16.30 local time with Budvanska Rivijera playing against Buducnost. Two hours later, Jedinstvo will take on Volley Star from Niksic. The final will take place on Saturday at 19.00.

"For a second time, Bijelo Polje are the organisers of the final tournament of the Cup of Montenegro,” said Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (VFM) Secretary General Ivan Boskovic. “We believe that the event will be well organised and hopefully we will have a chance to watch some great volleyball in a tournament which features interesting semifinals. Before the start of the semifinals, the federation will hold a ceremony awarding volleyballs to Jedinstvo from Bijelo Polje, Ibar and Fenix from Rozaje, Ivangrad from Berane, Rudar from Pljevlja and Gorstak from Kolasin."

Slobodan Boskan, coach of defending title holders Budvanska Rivijera, believes that the club from Budva are favourites again this year, but that they still have to be cautious and focused in order to win the trophy. "Our aim is to play well in the semifinals, we have quality and we have the role of favourites. I think that even though we are in first place in the championship, we should be careful to play the first match responsibly and qualify for the final. I expect there will be a lot of fans in Bijelo Polje and that they will see quality volleyball," said Boskan.

Buducnost assistant coach Balsa Radulovic said: "We did not have luck in the draw, but we will not despair. We will try to give our best in the semifinals, to make it more interesting, and to be a worthy opponent to favourites Budvanska Rivijera. The quality is on their side as we have a young team,” said Radulovic.

Jedinstvo coach Darko Prebiracevic is pleased that the city of Bijelo Polje is again hosting the final tournament, recalling that the city also organised the 2007 cup finals. "That was one of the best organised and most attended tournaments to date. The city of Bijelo Polje and Jedinstvo will give their best to make sure everything goes to plan. After a long period of time we have semifinals with quite uncertain outcomes," he said.

Volley Star head coach Vladimir Djokic believes the semifinals are unpredictable. "As for our semifinal, the chances are equal. We know each other very well, we already played twice this season. Jedinstvo celebrated a 3-0 win at home, while we won by 3-2 in Niksic in the last leg. I expect interesting matches and good volleyball."

Budvanska Rivijera have won the last five Cup of Montenegro titles. The three titles before that went to Buducnost from Podgorica. The club from Podgorica also won the Cup of Yugoslavia back in 2000, before Budvanska Rivijera claimed the following two trophies.
