Beach Volleyball Tour begins in Venezuela

Players will earn points in the race to qualify for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship The Netherlands 2015
Camurichico, Venezuela, February 21, 2015 - Thirty-two athletes representing nine countries participated in the Beach Volleyball Complex "Hugo Chavez" Beach Volleyball Tour's fourth stop, looking forward to adding points to their countries towards the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship The Netherlands 2015.

The first elimination round took place, with teams from Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil Ecuador, Peru, Colombia and host, Venezuela, leaving eight teams of each gender for the next day's quarter-finals.

Leonard Colina-Carlos Rangel (VEN 2) overcame in a very hard match SantiagoAulisi-Julian Azaad (ARG 2). The host team was defeated on the first set 20-22 but coming from behind won the second and third sets 21-13, 15-13 starting the best way in their participation in Pool A. Then they defeated also the host team Perez-Castillo 2-0 (21-15, 21-16).

The last match during the morning showed the Uruguayan pair Mauricio Vieyto-Hans Hannibal overcoming surprisingly the ARG 1 pair, Nicolas Capogrosso-Ivan Mehamed by 2-1 (14-21, 21-15, 15-12) but recovering on the second match of the ARG 1 pair, they defeated the host team of VEN 5, Fayola-Mendez 2-0 (21-19, 21-12) allowing them to go on the competition.

On Pool B of the women's competition, Cecilia Peralta-Virginia Zonta (ARG 2) overcame the Chilean Maria Rivas-Maria Mardones 2-0 (21-16, 21-19 but then the Brazilian Fernanda Berti-Taina de Souza, head favourite team for the title, won over the Argentine pair 2-0 (21-11, 21-16) qualifying for Quarter-Finals.

Ana Gallay (that returns after an injury) together with Georgina Klug overcame in another hard match in Pool D the PAR Michelle Valiente-Erika Mongelos 2-0 (23-21, 21-17) and in their second match they also won over the host team of Santana-Zambano 2-0 (21-9, 21-11) qualifying for Quarter-Finals, too.
