Burundi and Kenya through to the Zonal phase of the CAVB Beach Continental Cup

Kenya team celebrates
Tanzania, February 20, 2015 - Kenya and Burundi Beach volleyball teams in both genders proceeded to the second phase (Zonal) of the CAVB Continental Cup after they finished Zone 5, Pool 8 tournament held in Tanzania at the top two positions.

In the Men's tournament Burundi finished at the top of the ranking after they defeated the hosts Tanzania 4-0 and Kenya 3-1.

On the other hand Kenya topped the women's tournament after they took over Burundi 4-0 and Tanzania 4-0.

Now 12 teams in each gender confirmed their tickets at the second phase of the Continental Cup. In the Men's competition Tunisia, Morocco (Pool 1), Senegal, Gambia (Pool 2), Burundi, Kenya (Pool 8), South Africa, Mozambique (Pool 10), Angola, Zimbabwe (Pool 11), Mauritius and Seychelles (Pool 12) confirmed their qualification.

In the women's competition Morocco, Algeria (Pool 1), Gambia, Senegal (Pool 2), Kenya, Burundi (Pool 8), South Africa, Mozambique (Pool 10), Angola, Namibia (Pool 11), Mauritius and Seychelles (Pool 12) will continue their campaign to the zonal phase.

The Continental Cup acts as a qualifier for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
