China win big at CCTV Sports Awards

Yuan Xinyue was named Best Rookie at the awards on Sunday
Beijing, China, February 2, 2015 –China’s women’s volleyball team were named Best Team of the Year at the prestigious China's Central Television (CCTV) Sports Awards in Beijing on Sunday with young star Yuan Xinyue also receiving the Best Rookie award.

The world No.3 picked up silver at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Italy 2014, their first medal since 1998.

For 18-year-old Xinyue it capped off a fantastic year on the court as she cemented her place as a star on the global volleyball stage.

Legendary coach Jenny Lang Ping also took home the Best Coach of the Year award after navigating the side to the podium in Italy.

The annual CCTV Sports Awards, often recognised as the Chinese version of the Laureus World Sports Awards, is regarded as a top honour among Chinese sport.
