Berlin Recycling Volleys and Chemik Police to host Champions League Final Four tournaments

The Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin will be the venue of the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League Final Four tournament scheduled for March 28-29. The winners will qualify for the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship.

Luxembourg, January 29, 2015 - Berlin Recycling Volleys and Chemik Police will host the men’s and women’s Final Four tournaments that will provide the absolute climax for a record-breaking 2015 edition of the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League, in late March and early April. The venues of the Finals were announced on Thursday morning by CEV President André Meyer, shortly before a draw was held for the playoffs.

The magnificent Max-Schmeling-Halle, which hosted the semis and final matches of the 2013 CEV Volleyball European Championship – Women only 17 months ago, will welcome the local heroes of Berlin Recycling Volleys and another three world-class teams for the men’s Final Four, which is scheduled for March 28-29. The final act of the men’s competition will take place in Germany for the very first time, since the CEV Volleyball Champions League was launched back in 2000/01.

The women’s Finals will then follow on April 4-5 in Szczecin, Poland, and will be hosted by Chemik Police, with the reigning Polish champions making their first appearance in the Champions League this year. The last act of the women’s competition will return to Poland 12 years after the city of Pila hosted the 2003 Finals won by France’s RC Cannes.

The winners of this year’s CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League will represent Europe at the next edition of the FIVB Volleyball Club World Championships, which are due to take place in early May in Zurich and in Brazil (venue TBC).

The Drawing of Lots for the Playoffs 12 was held under the supervision of CEV President André Meyer and Mrs Riet Ooms, President of the European Cups Commission (ECC), starting with the women’s division. Mrs Ooms drew the 12 teams qualified for the knock-out phase, making sure that – as per the regulations – only two teams from the same country can make it to the Final Four tournament - also avoiding that clubs from the same League Round pool play each other again in the Playoffs 12.

The draw for the Playoffs 12 scheduled for February 10-12 (home matches) and 17-19 (away matches) reads as follows (teams listed first in the ties below will play the first match at home):

Dinamo Kazan (RUS) v VakifBank Istanbul (TUR)

The Playoffs 6 will follow in early March (home matches on March 3-5; away matches on March 10-12), before three teams eventually join hosts Chemik Police for the Final Four tournament.

The draw for the men’s Playoffs 12 reads as follows (the schedule is the same as for the women’s competition and teams listed first in the ties below will play the first match at home):
