2015 NORCECA Circuit to feature fifteen beach volleyball events

NORCECA Beach Volleyball Coordinator Indhira Ramirez presented the beach volleyball calendar approved by the commission during its meeting in Tijuana, Mexico
Tijuana, Mexico, January 20, 2015 - The 2015 calendar of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit - which consists of fifteen stops - was approved by the confederation's Beach Volleyball Commission at its annual meeting held in Tijuana, Mexico.

“We have had 10 events per year for the past three years, so this is a big achievement and it reflects the fast growth of the sport within our region,” said Commission President Arnaldo Sanchez.
The circuit kicks off in Guatemala City from March 18-23 and closes in Trinidad and Tobago from November 11-16. It also includes two stops each in Mexico and the United States.

“The continental circuit has helped the Olympic eligibility of our athletes and contributes to their progress and the development of our national federations,” NORCECA Beach Volleyball Coordinator Indhira Ramirez said. “That’s our mission and vision.”

During the meeting, the members of the commission received an updated report on the beach volleyball tournament at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, presented by Ed Drakich.

The competition venue will be located four kilometers from the Pan American Village, and the courts will built with the same kind of sand as at the London Olympic Games, Drakich said.

“I am convinced our sport will capture the interest of the fans and will be followed by TV and media,” he said. “The beach volleyball competitions will be the final event of the evening every day, so all the attention will be focused on us.”

NORCECA President Mr Cristobal Marte Hoffiz also commented on the progress of beach volleyball in the region, remarking on the opportunity given to teams from smaller countries like St Lucia and St Vincent and Grenadines to participate in the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games.
