Inauguration of AVC Headquarters set, AVC President arrives in Bangkok

AVC President Dr Saleh A. Bin Nasser chairs a first meeting at the AVC Headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand on November 28.

Bangkok, Thailand, November 28, 2014 – Asian Volleyball Confederation President Dr. Saleh A. Bin Nasser was the first honorary guest to arrive in Bangkok on Thursday to attend the opening ceremony of the AVC Headquarters in the Thai capital city.

On Friday, the AVC President visited the AVC Headquarters on the 12th story of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) Building and called for a special meeting among the staff at the headquarters to ensure a smooth preparation ahead of the official inauguration.

During the meeting, Mr. Shanrit Wongprasert, Zonal Executive Vice President Southeast Asian Zone and Chairman of the Sports Event Council, reported to the president on the preparatory work and the assignments completed at the Headquarters thus far.

The AVC President expressed his satisfaction with the preparations and the significant progress made so far at the headquarters. The AVC Headquarters in Bangkok first opened on October 1, following the final decision of the AVC Board of Administration in Incheon, South Korea on April 29 to move the AVC Headquarters from Beijing, China to Bangkok, Thailand. The AVC headquarters in Bangkok will be fully operational on January 1, 2015.

The AVC Headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand have been divided into five departments: Secretariat, Competition, Development and Marketing, Financial, and Press and Public Relations.

The following guests are due to arrive in Bangkok shortly: FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F°, FIVB President's Office Director Mrs Daniela Pirri Joly, FIVB and AVC Honorary Life President Mr. Wei Jizhong from China, Mr. Khalid Ali Al-Mawlawi from Qatar, president of the Qatar Volleyball Association, African Volleyball Confederation President Dr. Amr Elwani from Egypt and all members of the AVC Board of Administration.
