Pereira, Colombia, November 11, 2014 - The Colombian city of Pereira hosted a Volley All Festival on November 7 supervised by FIVB Level 1 Instructor Mr Luis Guillermo Garcia and organised in association with the Technological University of Pereira.
The event, which took place at the university's sports ground, provided 200 of the city's children with an opportunity to play mini-volleyball. Sixteen courts were set up to make it possible for all participants to play simultaneously.
Two volleyball festivals have taken place in Pereira in 2014 with a total of 700 children between the ages of eight and twelve participating. The festivals are an opportunity for local children to develop their skills and foster ties of friendship. Mini-volleyball is a discipline which is designed to make volleyball more accessible to children and which was designed for this age group.
The festival is unique in Colombia and was celebrating its fifth edition. It has seen a total of 1900 children participate to date and was promoted on the University of Pereira's radio station, as well as in the local press.
