Put everything on record

FIVB TV and New Media Commission President Mr Fernando Lima discussed marketing and communication activities

Cagliari, Italy, October 30, 2014 - FIVB TV and New Media Commission President Mr Fernando Lima underlined the need for the FIVB national federations to “record everything” and think about using balloons as an element when he spoke at the FIVB Congress Workshop on Thursday.

Mr Lima presented the International Volleyball Federation's marketing vision for the years ahead and encouraged workshop participants to be proactive and “do what you can” to promote the sports of volleyball and beach volleyball and its athletes. He also referred to the way children and adults interact with balloons as a possible means of promoting what volleyball is about to a wider audience, facilitating communication on the sport's key values by creating new symbols.

Speaking about the challenges volleyball and beach volleyball face in an increasingly competitive global media environment, Mr Lima emphasised the importance of creating a visual record of the sport: “If you do something, record it. It is the best way to communicate your achievements. Video is one of the most popular forms of communication for the youth of today and I encourage you all to grasp this medium and use it to your advantage.”

Mr Lima also explained to the participants in today's FIVB Congress Workshop that one of the international federation's priorities is to improve its own video history, in order to create value for the sport and its athletes. “The FIVB must be a reference in the digital world and we will use the rally clip as the basic unit. We have started during the FIVB Volleyball World Championships this year.
” The goal being to provide the best possible platform for volleyball and beach volleyball athletes, by enhancing marketing and communications around the two sports. The more teams and players are recognised for their achievements, the more volleyball can look forward to a prominent position as a major world media and entertainment sport.
