Closing Ceremony ends IRCC in Zimbabwe

Harare hosted an International Refereeing Candidate Course from October 20-27
Harare, Zimbabwe, October 29, 2014 - Nineteen candidates were accredited as the International Refereeing Candidate Course (IRCC) in Harare, Zimbabwe concluded on October 27.

The IRCC was led by Course Director Jean-Claude Baccus and by Course Instructor Sandy Steel. The 19 candidates included participants from Burkina Faso (3), Cameroon (1), Egypt (1), Lesotho (2), Mozambique (3), Rwanda, (1), Madagascar (1), Uganda (1), Zambia (1) and Zimbabwe (5).

Zimbabwe Volleyball Association President Fredreck Ndlovu thanked the Zone 6 countries, the CAVB and the FIVB for entrusting Zimbabwe with the organisation of the course. He also pledged Zimbabwe’s readiness to take up any challenge the Zone may be tasked with and congratulated all participants for their efforts to complete the course.

“The course was well organised given the short notice given to Zimbabwe to prepare for the course. I encourage the candidates to continue working hard as this is only the first step towards the famous grey badge,” said Jean-Claude Baccus.

Closing Ceremony guest of honour, Zimbabwe Olympic Committee President Admire Masenda applauded the Zimbabwe Volleyball Association for hosting the course successfully and encouraged the participants to work hard to become international referees and help raise Africa's profile in international volleyball.
