Beach volleyball coaching course completed in Qatar

Thirty-three candidates participated in the coaching course in Doha
Doha, Qatar, October 28, 2014 - A Level 1 Beach Volleyball Coaching Course gathered 33 candidates in Doha, Qatar from October 11-17. The course programme reviewed different aspects of coaching beach volleyball, including basic training skills, tactics, physical conditioning, injury prevention and court safety.

Thirteen candidates from Qatar were joined by 20 participants from 16 different countries. The course programme was organised around a number of workshops, which gave the candidates, who were all active beach volleyball coaches, a chance to share their experiences. Exams covered both theoretical and practical aspects of the sport.

Course lecturers included FIVB Coaches Commission Member and CAVB Coaches Commission President Mr Sherif El-Shemerly, who spoke about new trends in volleyball and training systems in volleyball to be tested in beach volleyball. Mr El-Shemerly was joined by Mrs Cecilia Farias, President of the Pan-American Canoe Federation and ICF Canoe Kayak Member, who discussed worldwide coaching education systems and issues related to women and sport. Mrs Martina Jakob Emersic, candidate, former high-level Slovenian player and physiotherapist with Al-Jaish Sport Club, talked about common injuries in beach volleyball and health care.
